This impressive sculpted limestone model of the Calydonian wild boar dates from the second half of the 20th century. It is a detailed copy of the famous Calydonian boar located in the Uffizi Museum in Florence, which in turn is a copy of an ancient Greek original. According to Greek mythology, this boar was sent by the goddess Artemis. The beast is depicted seated on a rectangular rock-work base.
The natural texture and patina of the limestone give this object an authentic and timeless appeal. The entire piece rests on a matching rectangular plinth.
