Monumental antique stone bust of Hercules (17th Century)
Description
Monumental, heavily weathered antique stone head of the Greek hero Hercules (Herakles), dating from the 17th century. The bust is carved in the Classical style and depicts the divine hero with his characteristic full beard and the lion skin or tresses draped over his ears.
This impressive stone sculpture is hand-carved and exhibits a rich patina shaped by the elements. It is a powerful architectural element and a striking classical decoration for both indoor and outdoor spaces (garden sculpture).
The head is mounted on a modern, custom-made, black steel plinth. A unique acquisition for collectors of antique statues, Grand Tour objects, or weathered stone art.
Condition: Heavily weathered, fragmented condition, with significant losses and erosion. This contributes to the monumental, historical presence of the piece.
