This impressive antique French fireplace is crafted from the exclusive Campan Grand Mélange marble, distinguished by its deep green and warm red tones with subtle light veining. The combination of colors and patterns gives the fireplace a luxurious and timeless appearance.
The elaborate carvings showcase a refined Trois Coquilles composition, with an asymmetrical central shell (coquille) flanked by elegant leaf motifs and floral details. Two additional shells adorn the corners, while the jambs are decorated with finely carved acanthus leaves.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this fireplace is further enhanced by its original cast iron interior. It consists of a large central fireback, flanked by two narrower, angled side plates, and completed with two slender, curved end pieces. The firebacks are richly adorned with mythological scenes, adding to the historical significance of the fireplace while also ensuring optimal heat distribution.
