Antique Maison Christofle shop etagère
Antique Maison Christofle shop etagère. This old brass window display comes from the Paris shop of Orfèvrerie Christofle (silversmith, goldsmith, jeweler). The shelf supports are adjustable along the brass uprights.
Charles Christofle founded the company that bears his name in 1830. Originally a jeweler, in 1842 he bought the patents silvering and electrolytic gold plating. As a goldsmith, he transformed ceremonial objects and utensils: from jewelery to cutlery, from goldsmiths to sculptures and from decorative objects to crockery. Thus, silver became an integral player in the contemporary art of living.
