Antique gilded French mirror with aged mirror glass

Elegant antique gilded Rococo mirror from the 19th century. The mirror is crowned with a large shell (coquille), surrounded by scrolling floral ornaments and leaves. The frame is richly decorated with classical pearl beading and stylised details.

The original mirror glass has a deeply aged surface that enhances its authentic character. In one area where the silvering had completely worn away, another piece of antique mirror glass was placed at the back, creating a unique ‘see-through’ effect without compromising its antique charm.
