Antique fireback Venus

Antique fireback with a Roman and Greek mythological scene: the goddess of love and beauty and fertility, Venus / Aphrodite, holds in her hands a mirror and the torch of Hestia (Greek goddess of fire and domestic life). This scene is beautifully accentuated by leaf motifs.

This antique cast iron fireback dates from the 19th century.
