19th Century sculpted white marble head of Julius Caesar Augustus

Description

A grand, sculpted white marble head of Julius Caesar Augustus from the 19th century, crafted in the manner of Roman examples. Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus (born Gaius Octavius, 23 September 63 BC – 19 August AD 14) was the founder of the Roman Empire. The model depicts him looking ahead, with hair falling across his forehead. The rear of the head is socketed and it is now mounted on a modern wrought iron display stand.

The sculpture is 48,5 cm high overall, with a base measuring 19,2 by 20 cm.
