18th century French limestone fireplace, Parisienne model

18th century French limestone Louis XIV mantelpiece, with beautiful carved shell ornament.

So-called Parisienne model because this is a model that stood on the floors of beautiful mansions in French cities.

This fireplace surround is therefore not made of 3 solid blocks, as in the countryside, but of limestone slabs to save weight.

Useful in this day and age because the fireplace allows easy installation with a closed system and glass plate due to the straight legs and hollow interior.
